| The
Lochaber Rural Education Trust is a group of volunteers from the community
who believe in preserving the heritage of the area through education
and recreation and sharing the beautiful walks and breathtaking scenery
round the Complex at the foot of Ben Nevis with locals and visitors
alike.
Phase II at Lochaber Rural Complex, nestling under the stunning
scenery of Aonach Mor, will provide wonderful entertainment and
education for those who love country life and history. The aim of
the Trust is to develop the area to provide facilities which do
not exist in Lochaber at present for the benefit of people of all
ages and abilities, with the whole project being accessible to all.
Major attractions will include a living agricultural museum and
the Noah's Ark Animal Corner.
Another part of the project is the construction of
the Rural Education Centre. This purpose-built facility will be
fully operationalin June 2005 and will accommodate a fully-equipped
classroom resource with a capacity for over 30 students of all age
ranges.
Additionally the Centre will house exhibits for the
Agricultural Museum and The Jim Leslie Collection, a truly unique
international exhibition celebrating over 130 years of photographic
equipment, including cameras (the oldest dating back to 1865), projectors,
enlargers,photographs, manuals and memorabilia.
Lochaber Rural Complex has excellent car parking and toilet facilities
which are disabled-friendly.
A new green field has already been constructed high
up on the hillside on the road to the Aonach Mor Ski Centre. This
field will be available for all community groups, shows, competitions
and sports groups in 2004 for junior shinty, football, rugby and
whatever. The field is terraced on three sides and is ideal for
sports days and picnics. Bookings are necessary - email Isabel Campbell,
the Project Facilitator ( info@lret.org.uk ) or telephone her on

Isabel Campbell is always delighted to answer any
queries and welcomes visitors to the Lochaber Rural Education Trust.
The Education Trust is a registered charity (SCO 32111)

of the project. You can help in lots of different way - it's fun
